Don’t be Gnome Alone this Christmas.
The Asda Community Report indicated that over 1 in 10 of the over 60’s were not sure if they would speak to anyone during the Christmas period.
As part of Asda’s campaign to combat loneliness and isolation at Christmas, Navigation was briefed to create three events to highlight community centres who do so much to support the elderly.
The aim was to create three different activities that could be utilised across Asda’s social channels to highlight the great work that is being done by Asda Community Colleagues and stores to support the elderly, and to encourage people to ensure that the elderly in their community were not isolated at Christmas.
Navigation created and managed three very special activations.
For Stanley Community Centre, the elderly were invited to attend a tea dance where they were served with a wonderful high tea and were entertained by “Strictly” style dancers and a band, with many taking to the dance floor along with Asda community colleagues.
At Delamere Community Centre, local elderly residents were delivered with a special “Warm Hamper” including a blanket, hot water bottle and lots of warming foods and treats. The recipients were invited back to the centre to enjoy a festive lunch and entertainment ,and the star of the show the karaoke, where there was no shortage of crooners.
The final event at Pelsall Community Centre, welcomed a range of groups that use the facility, especially the elderly, for a special Christmas lunch with over 140 treated to a very festive meal and entertainment.
The response from the host groups was incredibly heartwarming, with the elderly attendees having a fantastic time at each event, so much so that many didn’t want to leave.
The filming at each event provided Asda with some really strong content that was used across all social media channels, with great engagement from their customers.
